Shareholder Resolutions are becoming the new MVP: Global investment manager, Schroeders, managing nearly $1 trillion USD, has announced it was pre-declaring its voting intentions for upcoming shareholder resolutions at Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Shell, which urges the fossil fuel producers to limit greenhouse gasses in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement for scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. No more disintegrating paper straws: For the first time, researchers have found a way to imbue relatively sustainable paper materials with some of the useful properties of plastic. This can be done easily, cost-effectively, and efficiently. A coating called Choetsu not only waterproofs paper but also maintains its flexibility and degrades safely as well. (Science Daily)
Not so Feel Good Sustainability News:
Are ESG Investment indices really moving the needle toward sustainability? : I seriously have my doubts. Tesla dropped from the S&P 500 ESG index this month while Exxon remained. While the drop may be warranted due to the S&G issues that Tesla has faced, this is obviously an issue and some tightening of ESG indices is needed. (The Conversation)
